Patient Accounts Representative

POSITION SUMMARY
The Patient Account Representative is responsible for managing patient billing and payment processes with accuracy, courtesy, and efficiency. This position requires a balance of strong communication skills and empathy to help patients understand and meet their financial obligations while maintaining compliance with company policies and healthcare regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate directly with patients to explain their financial responsibilities and payment options.
- Work with patients to establish payment arrangements for outstanding account balances in accordance with company policy.
- Respond promptly and professionally to patient inquiries and concerns regarding statements or balances.
- Contact insurance companies via phone or online portals to verify eligibility and benefit information.
- Document all patient calls and account activity accurately and promptly in eCW (eClinicalWorks).
- Assist with general billing and collection activities as assigned to support the department’s overall goals.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred
- 2 years of office experience in medical billing / collections preferred
- 2 years customer service required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high level of professionalism.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and analytical thinking.
